I can just hear all the gun control nuts now!! What about the ADULT who left a loaded shotgun where a 4 year old could get to it? What about the ADULT who FAILED to teach that 4 year old YOU ARE NOT TO EVER, EVER TOUCH THIS!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!

I don't see how a 4-year-old could even hold up a shotgun, much less, shoot it. Sounds like there's more to the story!
Maybe the kid had VERY expensive shoes?
